Concept

Making visible not only the makers, but also the businesses, regions, and institutions that sustain craft.

The craft sector is sustained by far more than artists and artisans alone. It depends on studios and manufacturers, associations and local governments that support production regions, galleries and retailers that connect objects with buyers, and cultural institutions and community organizations that share craft traditions with wider audiences.

Kogei Japonica’s business registration program provides free registration and a basic listing for approved applicants. By organizing and presenting this information, we create a foundation for new connections with companies, buyers, media, local governments, and other organizations interested in craft.

Rooted in Japanese craft, the platform welcomes eligible businesses and organizations regardless of nationality or location. Overseas applicants should have a clear connection to Japanese craft, its makers, materials, techniques, regions, research, distribution, or cultural exchange.

Turning registered information into meaningful new connections.

Depending on your registered information, current activities, and relevance to specific initiatives, we may consider your organization for business profiles, product sales, editorial coverage, or collaborations with companies and regions.

01

Business & Regional Profiles

After review, approved core information may be published as a basic profile introducing your organization, activities, products, techniques, production region, and current initiatives. Dedicated landing pages, sales campaigns, events, and proposals to corporate clients are optional forms of support, with their scope and terms agreed separately in advance.

03

Editorial & Strategic Communications

We explore your products, techniques, artisans, and regional initiatives through interviews and share their stories through articles, photography, video, and social media content. Our creative team combines deep knowledge of the craft sector with the latest AI technologies to deliver effective communications and PR that convey the value of your organization and its craft.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of businesses and organizations can register?

Eligible applicants include craft manufacturers, studios, kilns, regional and trade associations, local governments, regional development organizations, galleries, craft institutions, retailers, and distributors. We review each applicant’s relationship to craft and the nature of its activities.

Can we register products that are not officially designated as traditional crafts?

Yes. Official designation is not the sole criterion. We also consider connections to regional techniques, handwork, materials, and the continuation of craft culture.

Can an organization apply even if it is not incorporated?

Yes. Regional associations, voluntary organizations, community groups, local governments, galleries, and craft institutions are also welcome to contact us. On the initial form, simply describe your activities to the best of your knowledge.

Can a business or organization based outside Japan apply?

Yes. Nationality and location alone do not determine eligibility. Kogei Japonica is rooted in Japanese craft, so overseas applicants should have a clear connection to Japanese craft, its makers, materials, techniques, regions, research, distribution, or cultural exchange. Each application is reviewed individually.

Where should independent artists and artisans register?

If you wish to register your personal profile, work, and techniques, please use the Craft Artist Profile Registration page. Use this page when registering a studio, shop, company, or organization.

Do we need images or detailed materials before contacting you?

No. They are not required for the initial inquiry. When our team follows up, we will ask for any additional details, images, or supporting materials needed for the review.

Is there a fee to register or receive a listing?

Registration and a basic listing of approved business information are free. If an optional service such as sales support, business development, or creative production involves a fee, we will explain the scope and terms in advance and proceed only with your agreement.

Does submitting the form guarantee registration or publication?

No. We review the information submitted and discussed during our follow-up in accordance with Kogei Japonica’s registration and publication guidelines. An inquiry does not guarantee registration or publication.

Will Kogei Japonica sell our products after we register?

We may contact you about product listings or sales support after considering the products, commercial terms, and relevance to a particular initiative. Registration does not guarantee sales or revenue.

Are editorial coverage or project referrals guaranteed?

No. We may contact you when your activities are relevant to an editorial theme or inquiry, but editorial coverage and project referrals are not guaranteed.

Some of our clients or past projects are confidential. Can we still apply?

Yes. Please tell our team during the follow-up which information must remain confidential. We will distinguish between information intended for publication and information provided only for review.

Can we update our information after registration?
