CraftTown is a Shizuoka-based company that supports market expansion for goods, accessories, and traditional crafts created by handmade artists, craft makers, and companies from across Japan, delivering their work both domestically and internationally.
From Shizuoka at the foothills of Mount Fuji, under the vision of “NIPPON’s TAKUMI to the World,” CraftTown shares the appeal of Japanese craftsmanship globally—spanning genres from traditional crafts to modern handmade works.
CraftTown values not only the works themselves, but also the thoughts, backgrounds, and stories carried by each individual maker, and places great importance on communicating these carefully to audiences in Japan and around the world.
To this end, we create dedicated profile pages for each creator in both Japanese and English, and include maker introductions alongside every product listing, promoting a philosophy of “craftsmanship with a visible human presence.”
Business
By leveraging some of the world’s largest e-commerce platforms, CraftTown enables overseas sales to up to 23 countries.
With a system that requires no account setup, no English proficiency, no overseas shipping, and no English-language customer support, we have built an environment in which individual creators and companies alike can smoothly take their first steps into international sales.
Beyond online sales, we also focus on creating real-world opportunities where customers can physically experience and engage with the works.
To date, we have carried out consignment sales at stores in Los Angeles, and are planning global exhibitions and sales initiatives including participation in “MONO JAPAN” in the Netherlands, expansion in Brooklyn, New York, and events held at historic architectural sites in Taiwan.
In addition to promotion through overseas-focused social media and advertising, CraftTown provides matching support such as outreach to international buyers and companies, wholesale opportunities, and business partnerships.
Rather than simply acting as a listing intermediary, we offer ongoing support designed to help creators expand their activities sustainably over time.
