Generative AI Usage Policy
1. Introduction
Kogei Japonica is a web media platform operated by ARTerrace, Inc. It publishes information on Japanese traditional crafts, craft artists, techniques, materials, production regions, exhibitions, culture, and business applications.
This policy explains how Kogei Japonica uses generative AI and outlines the principles we follow for readers, business partners, craft artists, artisans, galleries, companies, organizations, researchers, and other stakeholders.
Kogei Japonica may use generative AI to support article production, editing, research assistance, translation, image creation, planning, and related editorial work. However, we do not publish AI-generated outputs without appropriate consideration. Where necessary, human editors or project members review, edit, and make final decisions.
2. Scope of Generative AI Use
Kogei Japonica may use generative AI for the following purposes.
2-1. Articles and Content Production
Generative AI may be used to support article outlines, research assistance, title ideas, headings, meta descriptions, draft writing, proofreading, editorial refinement, summarization, FAQ organization, table creation, and SEO/AIO-oriented content structuring.
2-2. Translation and International Communication
Kogei Japonica may use generative AI to support the translation of Japanese articles into English, the refinement of internationally oriented content, the addition of cultural context, and the creation of explanatory text for overseas readers.
In translation and international communication, we take care not to over-mystify, oversimplify, or present Japanese traditional crafts merely as tourist imagery. We aim to respect the techniques, materials, histories, and lived practices of makers.
2-3. Image, Video, and Diagram Production
Generative AI may be used to support the creation of featured images, in-article visuals, diagrams, reference visuals, concept images, video structures, storyboards, narration scripts, subtitles, and social media visuals.
When AI-generated images or visuals are used, we take care to avoid creating the impression that they depict actual works, artists, production regions, products, exhibition scenes, or production processes unless that is accurate.
2-4. Business and Operational Support
Generative AI may be used to assist with proposals, planning documents, inquiry response drafts, social media posts, press releases, analytics reports, website improvement ideas, feature planning, interview preparation, and checklist creation.
3. Human Review and Editorial Responsibility
Kogei Japonica treats generative AI not as a tool that automatically produces definitive answers, but as a technology that supports human editorial judgment, research, content structuring, and expression.
Text, images, information, outlines, translation drafts, proposals, and other outputs generated with AI are reviewed and edited by humans where necessary. Final decisions regarding publication and use are made by humans.
Public materials such as articles, images, videos, service pages, social media posts, documents, and advertising expressions are reviewed by the operator or editorial team before publication, in accordance with the editorial policy of the media.
4. Fact-Checking and Accuracy
Generative AI outputs may include incorrect information, inaccurate wording, outdated information, or content that does not fit the intended context.
For information that requires accuracy, including craft artists, artisans, works, production regions, techniques, materials, exhibitions, events, companies, organizations, systems, fees, and dates, we strive to verify the content using official websites, primary sources, public institutions, organizer announcements, information provided by relevant parties, and other reliable references.
If an error is identified in published content, we will review the matter and take appropriate action, such as correction, addition, deletion, or other necessary updates.
5. Copyright and Intellectual Property
Even when using generative AI, Kogei Japonica takes care not to copy, reproduce, imitate, or use existing copyrighted works, artworks, photographs, text, video, designs, trademarks, logos, product images, exhibition images, artist works, or other protected materials without permission.
When producing images, text, video, diagrams, or other materials, we take care to avoid excessive similarity to specific artists, works, brands, production regions, companies, organizations, or real individuals.
When using external materials such as stock assets, photographs, audio, fonts, logos, portrait images, product images, or existing footage, we check the relevant usage conditions and licenses where necessary.
6. Respect for Craft Culture and Makers
Kogei Japonica does not treat traditional crafts merely as decoration, tourist resources, or relics of the past. We understand them as living cultural practices shaped by materials, techniques, histories, regional contexts, and the ongoing work of makers.
Even when using generative AI, we aim to maintain respect for craft artists, artisans, production regions, works, techniques, and materials. We take care not to oversimplify, exaggerate, or over-mystify their cultural contexts.
Especially in international communication, we avoid presenting Japanese culture as merely exotic. Instead, we strive to describe kogei as a contemporary craft culture that continues to evolve, with accuracy and sincerity.
7. Personal Information and Confidential Information
Kogei Japonica takes care not to input personal or confidential information into generative AI tools without appropriate consideration. This includes names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, facial images, contract information, transaction information, unpublished information, internal documents, and other non-public information.
We do not input or share non-public information about business partners, craft artists, artisans, galleries, companies, organizations, research institutions, external partners, or other stakeholders into generative AI tools without permission.
When business use requires the handling of such information, we take reasonable measures where possible, such as anonymization, summarization, masking, and limiting the scope of sharing.
8. Transparency
Kogei Japonica may use generative AI as part of its website operations and production processes, including articles, images, videos, diagrams, documents, planning, translation, editing, research assistance, artist introductions, exhibition introductions, social media posts, and advertising expressions.
For this reason, we do not necessarily disclose the use of AI, the tools used, the production process, or the scope of generation for every individual piece of content. However, if there is a significant risk of misunderstanding by readers, business partners, or stakeholders, or if we determine that disclosure of AI-generated content is particularly necessary, we will provide notes or explanations where appropriate.
For AI-generated craft-style images, exhibition scenes, workshop scenes, people, product images, sample works, concept visuals, and similar materials, we strive to prevent misunderstanding where there is a risk that they may be mistaken for actual works, artists, artisans, production regions, products, exhibitions, companies, or organizations.
9. Prohibited and Restricted Uses of Generative AI
Kogei Japonica does not use generative AI for the following purposes:
Using AI to copy or imitate third-party copyrighted works, artworks, photographs, text, video, designs, or other materials without permission
Creating false or misleading information
Creating content that defames or harms craft artists, artisans, companies, organizations, or individuals
Creating images, audio, or text that impersonates real individuals
Using personal or confidential information without permission
Creating expressions that promote discrimination, prejudice, cultural misunderstanding, or excessive stereotyping
Using AI to intentionally deceive readers, business partners, or stakeholders
Using AI-generated images inappropriately in ways that may cause them to be mistaken for real works or products
10. Kogei Japonica’s Core Principles
Kogei Japonica uses generative AI as a technology that supports information sharing, editing, translation, planning, and visual production related to traditional crafts.
We do not rely solely on automated generation. We place importance on human editing, review, judgment, and sensitivity to cultural context.
For information related to craft artists, artisans, production regions, works, techniques, and materials, we strive to verify accuracy where possible and to communicate with sincerity.
For all content and creative materials, we value not only visual appeal, but also informational accuracy, cultural sensitivity, rights awareness, safety, and usefulness for readers.
11. Use of External Tools and Services
Kogei Japonica may use various generative AI tools and external services for text generation, translation, image generation, video generation, audio generation, data analysis, proofreading, search assistance, document creation, prompt design, and related purposes.
Where possible, we check the terms of service, commercial use permissions, copyright conditions, data usage policies, handling of outputs, and prohibited uses of the AI tools and external services we use.
Because generative AI tools may change in technology, specifications, pricing, terms, commercial usage conditions, and output quality, the tools we use and our operational policies may be updated as needed.
12. Disclaimer
Kogei Japonica strives to provide accurate information, but does not guarantee the completeness, accuracy, or timeliness of the information published on this website.
Articles and other content are provided for general information, cultural introduction, case studies, and editorial or planning support. For individual purchasing decisions, business transactions, contractual decisions, legal decisions, rights clearance, exhibition participation, or business implementation, we recommend consulting official sources, specialists, relevant organizations, or the service providers concerned where necessary.
Generative AI outputs may contain errors, unnatural expressions, bias, outdated information, or expressions that require attention from a rights perspective. Kogei Japonica reviews, corrects, and edits content where necessary, but does not guarantee that AI outputs themselves are always accurate, complete, or up to date.
If you find any content that may contain errors, potential rights infringements, inappropriate expressions, personal information, confidential information, or any other material that may require correction or deletion, please contact us through the inquiry form.
We will review the facts and, where necessary, take prompt action such as correction, addition, deletion, or suspension of publication.
13. Policy Updates
Generative AI technology, laws and regulations, social expectations, tool terms of service, commercial usage conditions, and production practices continue to evolve.
Kogei Japonica will review and update this policy as necessary in response to these changes.
When this policy is updated, the revised date will be indicated on this page.
Kogei Japonica aims to expand the possibilities of information sharing and expression through generative AI while maintaining respect for craft culture, informational accuracy, rights awareness, safety, and transparency.
This policy may be revised as necessary.
