Kogei Sales & Distribution Support
Your Craft, Ready for Market.
Built to Reach the Right People.
For craft artists, artisans, and independent studios working in Japanese craft traditions, we provide support ranging from listings in the official Kogei Japonica online store to product-page creation, editorial features, and social media promotion. Our aim is to help new buyers discover the work while clearly communicating the story behind each piece and the maker’s vision.
Shipping is generally excluded from the commission calculation. Additional fees may apply for dedicated photography, landing-page production, advertising, or other services, depending on scope. All listings are subject to review.
Concept
More Than Displaying the Work:
Helping People Discover, Understand, and Buy It.
A photograph and a price do not always convey the full value of a craft object. By carefully presenting its materials, techniques, purpose, making process, and the artist’s perspective, we create a sales page that helps buyers understand the work and imagine a place for it in their lives.
Issue
Making the Work Is Demanding Enough. Selling and Promoting It Should Not Rest on You Alone.
We help establish a sales foundation so you can focus on your practice instead of managing e-commerce, photography, copywriting, promotion, and customer enquiries on your own.
No Established Place to Sell
Without your own online shop or a permanent sales channel, prospective buyers have nowhere clear to complete a purchase.
The Work Is Difficult to Put into Words
There is little time to explain techniques and the making process in language that is accessible to a wider audience.
Promotion Does Not Easily Lead to Sales
You may be active on social media, but product details and purchase links remain fragmented across different channels.
Support
From Building a Place to Sell to Editing and Promotion That Communicate Value.
Centered on online-store listings, our support develops step by step—from presenting the value of your work to creating connections with new buyers and sales channels.
01 | Build a Sales Foundation
We list the work in our official online store, organize product details, pricing, and specifications, create the product page and description, and establish a clear path to purchase.
02 | Communicate the Work’s Value
Through interviews with artists and studios, documentation of the making process, editorial features, and social media, we reveal the context that the object alone cannot show.
03 | Expand Connections and Sales Channels
Depending on the work and your practice, we may explore dedicated landing pages, PR initiatives, and connections with businesses, retailers, and cultural or hospitality venues.
Additional fees may apply for photography, dedicated landing-page production, advertising, or other services, depending on scope. We do not guarantee placement with a particular retailer or the completion of any transaction.
Beyond the Sale, New Places for Craft to Live.
We begin by establishing a sales foundation in the official online store, supported by ongoing editorial and social media coverage. Over time, we may explore market development suited to the work and your practice, including connections with businesses, retailers, hotels, and cultural institutions.

Editorial Commerce
Because We Understand Craft, We Can Communicate What Lies Behind It.
Kogei Japonica is a specialist craft publication featuring artists, traditional techniques, works, production regions, and studios. We present the qualities of the materials, the making process, intended use, regional context, and the artist’s thinking—information that a product name and price alone cannot convey, but that helps buyers choose with understanding.
Commission
Commission Applies Only When an Item Sells.
Initial and monthly listing fees are generally waived. When an item sells, Kogei Japonica retains 30% of the product sale price as an operations and sales-support commission.
These are our standard terms. Final terms will be confirmed in advance based on the type of product, sales method, shipping arrangements, and any additional support required.

Our Approach
We Do Not Promise Sales. We Build a Foundation for Sustained Selling.
Product listings, editorial coverage, and social media features are intended to expand sales opportunities; they do not guarantee a particular number of views or sales. By considering the nature of the work, pricing, stock, and seasonality, we aim to build a sales foundation that supports continued presentation over time.
